L'Oreal Paris Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder

I've been reading about this product from local blog reviews all summer. I thought I should give it a try because once I hear the word "matte" being associated with a face product, my inner devil would rear its ugly head.

This blog post is more of a first impression review as well as some tips for application. So better read more to find out about my thoughts on the popular Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder by L'Oreal. :)

So here's a little back story before I proceed. After a stressful day at the city sometime last week (as of this writing), I thought I could treat myself for a job well done before heading back to the province where I'm currently based at the moment. Imagine yourself going about with important errands such as jumping from one place to another to buy important medical supplies and having to catch the last (comfortable) bus going home, who wouldn't want a little treat to brighten up your mood? Ya feel? Plus I recently ran out of my favorite powder foundation and I wanted to try this product after consuming my powder at the time. I feel as if I'm trying to justify my purchase. ;)

So I got the shade R1 or Rose Ivory. I thought I had to buy this at its full price because from what I heard, the sale lasted until the end of May. When I got to the L'Oreal counter at Robinson's Place in Fuente, I got even more excited as I found out that this was still on sale. The original price was supposed to be at Php 499.00 but got mine for only Php 400.00. Yes!

As you can tell from the picture above, I just had to test it out before taking a picture. I'll try to control myself next time after I purchase a product before taking its picture for reviewing purposes. Teehee!

Product overview (based on the product packaging and press information I read online):

  • Has SPF 34 PA +++ and is shine resistant for 12 hours.
  • Infused with volcanic perlite minerals to help with controlling oil and shine.
  • Helps minimize blemishes, skin imperfections and pores.
  • Gives a velvety soft touch.
  • Shelf life of 24 months and contains 6.5 grams of product.

What I think:
  • If you're expecting this to be a powder foundation, you'd be disappointed. However, this is more of a touch-up product that sets foundation perfectly. I'm saying this because it's claim to give your skin a velvety feel is true!
  • It doesn't make your skin look and feel dry. For me it gives a healthy glow. :)
  • On the day I tested this product, few hours later I got sweaty. When I got home I checked myself in front of the mirror and still had a glow. I didn't look shinier but rather glowing.
  • Use the sponge provided to achieve the velvety texture the product promises as well as minimizing the appearance of your skin's pores. I personally dislike using this product with a brush. Press the sponge lightly against your skin.
  • On packaging: I like the box than the actual product's packaging more! Maybe it should still have the shiny Mat logo and the main colors of the actual packaging could've been magenta and black. But this is just a personal opinion. :)

Would I buy it again?
So far I'm liking it alone or on top of my foundation! Maybe I'll purchase a refill when I'll run out because it really gives your skin a velvety and glowing finish. Better try it before the sale ends! :) Here's a photo of me wearing the powder alone. I only applied my daily sun block, some lip and cheek tint and lip balm.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading! 'Till next time!
Jessy :*
